Thanksgiving is the Kitchen Nightmare!

Thanksgiving is only 1 day away!

I can only imagine the chaos ensuing around Northern Virginia as families scramble to grocery stores, loading up their carts and standing in line for what feels like hours. Thanksgiving has a way of taking a peaceful holiday and turning it into a hectic eat-a-thon. I'm not complaining about that last part.

The worst part, in my mind, is the clean up. After cooking a Thanksgiving meal, the kitchen can be a complete disaster. "How did mashed potatoes get on the ceiling?" you'll think to yourself. Appliances will stop working when you need them the most and you may feel like your kitchen is falling apart all around you.

You may need kitchen cabinet refacing.

When it's all said and done, you will have to assess the damage to your kitchen. If you haven't updated your kitchen yet with kitchen cabinet refacing, then you are in luck. Waiting until after Thanksgiving might have been a wise choice. We know that the kitchen can take a beating during this holiday, and after it's done, it's time to treat yourself.

Kitchen cabinet refacing removes all of the visible elements of your cabinets, and replaces them with beautiful, 100% hard wood. That means that all of the scratches, grooves, and faded kitchen cabinet doors will be removed.

Just in time for Christmas, kitchen cabinet refacing is a wonderful gift to yourself.

For kitchen cabinet refacing needs, contact Signature Kitchens! Use real wood, not the vinyl stuff!

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing for Football Season!

Football season is finally here! For all of those diehard football fans, this is one of the most exciting times of the year. The fall weather reminds us that football season has finally arrived and fanatics will be glued to their televisions watching their favorite teams compete each and every week.

I love football season. If you’re not a fan of the game, it’s certainly hard to not be a fan of the food. The kitchen is twice as busy with fans running back and forth to the fridge and cabinets grabbing snacks and drinks for hours on end throughout the week.

Football season is also a great time for kitchen cabinet refacing. When there is a large group over at your house this football season, you will soon find out that functionality is everything. Do you need extra storage from your kitchen cabinets? Are there enough kitchen cabinets at all? Are they outdated or even in need of repair?

There are many factors to consider when you’re looking into kitchen cabinet refacing. But most importantly, you need to know that it’s made from a quality product, that it’s durable, that it’s visually exactly what you want, and that it comes at a great price.

All of our products are made with real wood. Each piece is custom built in our manufacturing facility to fit your cabinet frames. And since we manufacture our own product, ship it, and install it through our own company, you are getting great prices and never have to deal with a third party.

School is Back = Assess the Kitchen Damage

It’s hard to believe that summer is officially over! The weather is slowly fading from those brutal 100 degree weeks and school is back in session for students around Northern Virginia.

Now that the kids are finally out of the house for most of the day (depending on their age) it’s time to assess the damage. The kids have been running through the house all summer long leaving a trail of debris in their path. But now that the dust has settled, it’s time to take a look around at the most used room of the home – the kitchen.

Do You Need a Kitchen Remodeling Contractor?

If you have been putting off that kitchen remodeling project all summer because you knew how busy you would be, now is the time to get things done. With the holiday season right around the corner, chances are your kitchen doesn’t have much time before things get truly hectic once again. Kitchen remodeling in Northern Virginia is constantly occurring due to design trends, the housing market, and the unique way of living that can only be found in Northern Virginia.

Don’t Want to Take on a Kitchen Remodeling Project? Consider Cabinet Refacing.

I’ve said it before that kitchen cabinet refacing can completely transform the look and feel of your current kitchen. Since kitchen cabinets take up the most real estate, the rest of the kitchen often caters to the overall design of the cabinets themselves. If you are ready for a new look, consider cabinet refacing and take care of the smaller items down the road.

Kitchen Cabinet Installation - Is it Time Yet?

As the winter season approaches, more people are thinking about kitchen remodeling. Like I mentioned in last week’s post, the holiday season is the busiest time of the year for individuals, and for kitchens. With that in mind, many people turn to kitchen remodeling so that their holiday season is full of great food, a fantastic place to cook it, and the unity and memories that can only be made through the most used room in the home – the kitchen.

Kitchen Cabinet Installation

Though I have talked about Signature Kitchen’s unique offering of kitchen cabinet recrafting, there does come a time when your kitchen cabinets require much more than just a touch up. Often the cabinet frames are beyond repair, and “putting lipstick on a pig” simply won’t cover up what really needs to be replaced.

Kitchen cabinet installation not only gives your entire kitchen a new look, but it allows you the opportunity to get creative. Chances are that you have been with the same kitchen cabinets for years and have learned what you like, don’t like, and where you would like things to be if you had new cabinets.

With freedom of design, high functionality and an amazing return on investment, investing in new kitchen cabinet installation is an incredible way to transform your home and prepare for the holidays.

For all of your kitchen cabinet installation needs, call Signature Kitchens – proudly serving all of Northern Virginia.

Realtors Seeking Kitchen Remodeling Contractors

Our nation’s housing market is still seeing some of the lowest interest rates ever. It has been a great few years for buyers and a very busy time for realtors as well. With many homes being foreclosed or selling as “short sales”, homes are left as is which can make them difficult to sell at times.

Every room usually undergoes some sort of touch up before selling, but the one room that can truly sell a home is the kitchen – a room that needs to be up to par with kitchens found in new homes. Kitchens are the most used rooms in a house and it often shows. So what needs to be done to sell the home?

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing

Kitchen cabinets take up a lot of real estate in the kitchen. In addition to being the main focal point of the kitchen, they are used constantly and experience a lot of wear and tear. This is why kitchen cabinet refacing can be the perfect facelift for any outdated kitchen.

Kitchen Remodeling Contractor

When a home needs to be sold quickly and potential buyers are citing the kitchen as their main concern, realtors will call a kitchen remodeling contractor to do a professional, quality job in a hurry.

We work with many realtors who are seeking professional kitchen remodeling contractors. Often it takes only a few minor updates to transform a home and have it sold quickly.

If you are a realtor looking for a reliable kitchen remodeling contractor to work with, Signature Kitchens has over 20 years of experience and provide the highest quality service throughout Northern Virginia.

Kitchen Design Ideas after the Storm

Storms have rolled through Northern Virginia in a big way the last couple of weeks, and combined with the worst heat wave the DC metro area has ever experienced, locals did all they could to stay inside during the 110 degree weather.

During that week, I spent as much time indoors as I possibly could and, maybe it was a bit of cabin fever, but I began fixing things that didn’t need to be fixed, cleaning things that I rarely clean, etc. It was also a great time, maybe for you, also, to assess the layout of your home and kitchen, and take note of some changes you would like to see.

Kitchen Design Ideas

Spending a week indoors, you will become much more familiar with your surroundings than you would ever like to be – even more so than Thanksgiving in the kitchen. That’s why it was the perfect opportunity to collect some unique kitchen design ideas.

Kitchen Cabinet Installation

Kitchen cabinet installation is often a much needed improvement to an outdated kitchen. Whether your kitchen cabinets appear worn down, or they have taken their toll physically, kitchen cabinet installation is a great way to give your kitchen a brand new look.

When searching for kitchen design ideas, it is always great to look at kitchen cabinet installation. This is your opportunity to change the location, size and color of the cabinets, and even the overall functionality, as well – if you need more drawers, larger doors, etc.

If you have a great kitchen design idea or want to speak with us about kitchen cabinet installation, we would love to hear from you at Signature Kitchens! Swing by our kitchen showroom in Haymarket, Virginia or give us a call.

The "Work Triangle" for Your Kitchen Remodeling Project

Home values have increased again this month signifying an upswing in the housing market. As I stated in previous blog entries, kitchen remodeling projects create a highly-valuable return on investment for homeowners. These projects steadily increase in popularity as homeowners continue to sell by creating a memorable atmosphere at the heart of the home.

Layouts for Kitchen Remodeling Projects

Kitchen cabinet installation is one of the most important pieces to your remodel. Kitchen cabinets need to be durable, have ample storage space, and most importantly, they have to look good.

The Correct Location for Your Kitchen Cabinet Installation

In order to find the proper location for your kitchen cabinet installation, you need to understand how you want your kitchen to function. Depending on the size of your kitchen remodeling project, you may be looking for a complete overhaul – changing the location of your stove, cabinets, sink, etc.

A tried and true layout for a kitchen remodel is known as the Work Triangle. According to zillow.com, the triangle should have the stove, sink and refrigerator at its points. They should have plenty of space between each item without any intersecting inhibitors such as a kitchen island or counter. This is used to maximize efficiency in the kitchen and to create a space that promotes a seamless operation and room for guests and loved ones to gather.

Signature Kitchens has a fantastic showroom for everyone to browse through for their kitchen remodeling project ideas. You will be able to select the wood, finish and overall look of your new kitchen cabinets, and even see them paired with counter tops and appliances.

Visit Signature Kitchens in Haymarket, Virginia. We service all of Northern Virginia including Loudoun County, Prince William County, Fairfax County and beyond.

The Showroom at Signature Kitchens

This week, I took some time out of my day to tour the absolutely beautiful Signature Kitchens showroom conveniently located in Haymarket, Virginia. The front of the building looks just like a small home, but upon entry, the walls seem to expand as the showroom opens up, full of fantastic kitchens and exquisitely-crafted cabinetry.

The kitchen showroom provides an amazing experience full of breathtaking kitchens, but it also proves educational as guests see firsthand the process behind their legendary kitchen cabinet refacing, or “recrafting” process.

What makes the kitchen cabinet refacing process so incredible is the ability to completely transform the entire physical appearance of the existing cabinetry without a complete overhaul of the cabinet frames and installation process. It may sound like a complete kitchen remodeling project, but the recrafting process can be done in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost.

The selection of new cabinet and drawer faces is vast and the entire collection is as stunning as the piece before it. There were so many great samples to choose from, and some of my favorite pieces were even found in photos of their completed projects proudly hanging on the showroom walls.

Most of all, the showroom felt intimate. It wasn't a large, impersonal business that didn't care, it was personal and catered exactly to what each guest wanted. I felt like I was standing in someone's home when I was there, and that is the perfect way to envision your new kitchen.

Stop by the showroom sometime and see for yourself. Haymarket is a beautiful town and truly adds to the whole experience. (The diner across the street is amazing, as well!)

The Signature Kitchens showroom is located at 6612 James Madison Highway, Haymarket, Virginia 20169.

Before and After Kitchen ReCrafting Project

Signature WoodCrafters is known for its unique practice of kitchen cabinet ReCrafting. In a home in Leesburg, Virginia, we met with a homeowner who was unhappy with the overall appearance of her kitchen cabinets and island. Previously, she had replaced the countertops with granite and the island was being extended to create a breakfast bar. With those two items being remodeled, she felt that the natural maple color and door style of her kitchen cabinets did not flow well with the rest of the kitchen, and wanted something a little more formal.

Here is a look at the kitchen island as it was being extended, as well as the existing Natural Maple cabinets.

We recrafted the cabinets with full-overlay raised-panel doors in medium-tone maple with black glazing. Tall crown molding was added to the tops of the cabinets along with a black rope inset to coordinate with the glazing. A stainless steel refrigerator was also replaced with a new black refrigerator and custom raised panels were attached to match the cabinetry. Exposed cabinet ends were covered with raised panels as well.

Finally, the kitchen island was finished with matching solid raised panels on the sides and beaded paneling and corbels on the back, giving the homeowner’s kitchen the formal look she wanted.

Our kitchen cabinet recrafting services are completed within days once we receive the custom-made pieces from our Pennsylvania Dutch manufacturing facility. The quality of our work speaks for itself, and our ability to design, manufacture, and install our own work makes us a one-stop-shop for all of your kitchen remodeling needs and services. Visit one of our showrooms to see our work for yourself!

Kitchen Remodeling on a Budget

This summer is already a very busy time for me and it hasn’t even really started yet. I have five weddings to attend and I have no idea how many more to come in the fall. The age of the engaged couples is fairly young and it is likely that they will be either renting a place to live or buying a small starter home. Buying a home is daunting task and chances are that the home will require a little TLC. Nothing is guaranteed to be in top shape, so it’s time for them to roll up their sleeves and get to work.

While potential DIY projects may abound in their new homes, there are some projects that are simply too large to undertake, or projects that require a certain set of skills. Kitchen remodeling is one of those projects. As a newly married couple with a shoestring budget, it’s likely that no major renovations will be taking place. However, kitchen cabinet refacing can be an affordable alternative to cabinet installation.

Kitchen cabinet refacing, or recrafting as we call it, is a process that replaces all of the visible elements of cabinets with new pieces. Most companies will reface cabinets with vinyl tape that resembles wood, but Signature WoodCrafters uses solid wood that is custom made in our own facilities. This makes us a go-to resource for so many kitchen remodeling projects.

The custom look will give your new home a high-end look with a much smaller budge than cabinet installation requires. Kitchen remodeling doesn't have to be super expensive! Owning a home at such a young age requires a little innovation and some research. Come check out Signature WoodCrafter’s showroom and see what we’re all about!

Kitchen Renovation - Your Post-Easter Assessment

Last week I wrote about the cabinet refacing and kitchen cabinet installation process. Over the Easter holiday, I challenged those who were thinking about doing a little kitchen renovation to pay attention to how their kitchen was being used and how easy it was to get around, find what you need, and entertain guests all at the same time. It’s overwhelming, I know!

Hopefully you had the chance to do just that. Assess your likes and dislikes of your kitchen and come up with a few new ideas. The cabinet refacing process, as I briefly talked about last week, can be done quickly and completely gives your kitchen a high-end, custom-built look for a fraction of the price of a complete installation. Kitchen cabinet refacing is much different than a regular installation as it replaces the doors and veneer tape around the framing only. It looks brand new and can be installed in just a few short days.

But for those who have had the time to look around your kitchen and decided that you are absolutely ready for an entire kitchen renovation, we can help you there, too. The kitchen renovation process is fully customizable. Are you looking to add more space to your kitchen, increase the cooking area, install additional cabinets, or add an island? The possibilities are seemingly endless as you can see, but in the end, a kitchen renovation can be as big or small as you like.

Our project managers are there to walk you through each step of the process and to help you figure out exactly what you want and need for your new space. They will listen to your concerns and create a design and plan that will give your kitchen an entirely new look and feel. Something you can truly be proud of.

Kitchen Cabinet Installation - How to Get It Done Fast!

Now that you have had Easter weekend to assess your kitchen design ideas and hopefully come up with a few ideas on how you would like to improve your space, it’s time to look at some items that might meet your needs.

Kitchen cabinet installation is probably the most common item to have replaced or renovated. Kitchen cabinets are the “face” of your kitchen. They are seen the most, used the most, and are definitely an essential piece due to the amount of storage space that they provide for your home. Having cabinets installed in your home can seem like a huge project to take on, which is why many of our customers choose our recrafted kitchen cabinet installation.

Having your cabinets recrafted by our kitchen remodeling contractors is a very fast and painless process. Instead of replacing the entire cabinet, frame and all, we replace the doors and veneers with custom-made solid wood that you have selected. Once the pieces are created in our own facility, the recrafted kitchen cabinet installation process can be done within days. What you’re left with is a high-end, custom look for a fraction of the price, and installed in a fraction of the time.

Our kitchen remodeling contractors install the new cabinet and drawer doors within days of receiving the manufactured pieces from our facility. This allows us to cut out the middle men so that you are always dealing with the same company from beginning to end. Our company prides itself on the quality of our work and the products we produce, and our kitchen remodeling contractors provide an excellent service that will have your brand new kitchen fully functioning in no time.

Begin the kitchen renovation process today with Signature WoodCrafters!

A Great Resource for Realtors

Over at Signature WoodCrafters, we have a long history of working closely with realtors who are looking an inexpensive way to spruce up a home. Often we come in and quickly renovate staircases, cabinets, and other structures and features that may be outdated or have a worn look to them. We even do full kitchen renovations and cabinet remodeling.

Signature WoodCrafters has the perfect solution for a home that isn’t selling as well as expected. By completely ReCrafting an outdated kitchen with new cabinets, built-ins or countertops, the home will take on entirely new, custom-built look without the headache or cost of a full-scale remodeling project. Quickly doing a full or itemized kitchen renovation is a great solution.

Signature WoodCrafters also ReCrafts stairs. Transforming stained, worn-down carpet into a custom-made wood staircase eliminates the embarrassing walk up to the second floor with a client. The ReCrafting process resembles our cabinetry remodeling process, as we discard the carpet or old wood from the previous staircase, and fit our custom-built wood pieces over top of the existing stairs. This again provides you with a quick fix to a major eyesore in the home you are trying to sell. Once the custom pieces are built, the installation can be done within days so you can get back to work as soon as possible.

Working with Signature WoodCrafters ensures a beautiful, custom-built piece for your kitchen, stairway, countertop, or built-in at a fraction of the price and time it would take to complete an entire remodeling project. Our kitchen renovation and cabinet remodeling services are second to none.

Realtors need superior products in a quick, cost-effective manner, and that is exactly what Signature WoodCrafters provides. Don’t pay more and wait longer. It doesn’t make sense.

Kitchen Cabinet Refacing and ReCrafting

When people think about kitchen cabinet refacing or even cabinet renovation, they visualize a long drawn out process, tons of contractors running around and making noise, and just total chaos. With Signature Kitchens, that couldn’t be any further from the truth.

We want your kitchen cabinet refacing to run as smoothly as possible from start to finish, and the best part is, the cabinet renovation process only takes a few days.

When we talk about our kitchen cabinet refacing process, you may hear us use the word “recrafting.” Our cabinet renovation process involves determining exactly what you want for your new cabinet refacing, then we use the design to custom build your 100% hardwood cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Instead of using the veneer cabinet covers that you have probably seen before, we reface your cabinets and your cabinet frames with solid hardwood, which gives your kitchen a custom-built look without the cost, or headaches of a typical cabinet renovation project.

The best part of all is that our recrafting service does not cost more than traditional kitchen cabinet refacing projects. Since all of our material is built and designed in our own facility in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country, we are able to cut out the middle man and make your kitchen cabinet refacing project a worry free experience.

If you are looking to bring new life into your kitchen, but don’t have the big budget, or the time to have contractors running in and out of your home for the next month, kitchen cabinet recrafting is the perfect solution for you. Now is the perfect time to give your kitchen a facelift with the custom built look and feel that you have always wanted. Call Signature Kitchens today to make your dream kitchen a reality!
